Lady of the chatelaine

This piece was made for the exhibition Hidden Histories (2020) at Narryna House Museum which is part of the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery in Hobart. The chatelaine was a device worn from the waist on which useful items were hung  (e.g. small scissors, a button hook, perfume container, note book). It was a predecessor of the handbag. This chatelaine has a somewhat sinister edge, extra hooks trap the unwary......
