In the eyes of society

For the Hidden Histories exhibition at Narryna Museum in 2020 I explored ideas of ruin and rebellion for the women who lived in this colonial house. 

White silk is embedded with eyes, the edges are frayed like eyelashes, and the bottom is cinched in tight. This work speaks to the violent undercurrent of the colony and the idea that women were always watched, judged, and controlled.  Silk, sterling silver, patina, nickel silver.
