Archaeology of shadows

Made for my Master of Fine Arts examination/exhibition this work is displayed on a vintage colonial-style table which has been painted black. Re-purposed cutlery has been engraved with text and fragmented before being painted with patina. I explore the places  Eco-philosopher Val Plumwood calls 'shadow places' - sites that have supported our prosperity through mining, whaling, and forestry. These are places now largely out of sight and out of mind.
