A poisonous cup 1, 2 and 3

These pieces were made for the exhibition Hidden Histories at Narryna House Museum which is part of the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery in Hobart (2020). The works reflect on the undercurrents which existed in the small society of early Hobart Town. Social conformity was the order of the day and contraventions were punished. A woman might need a drop of Absinthe to help her through the rituals. The materials are porcelain cups, nickel silver needles, resin, tea leaves, silk cocoons and sugar cubes.
