A reputation in tatters

In Tasmanian colonial society calling cards were a big part of life. They were a mark of your status in the colony and reputations could be gained or lost within a short space of time.  This artwork was produced for Hidden Histories exhibition at Narryna Museum (part of the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery) in 2020. It marks the bankruptcy and social ruin of the family who built this historic house but speaks to the wider idea of ruin.
