Chatelaine for nine convict women

This artwork takes vintage colonial bottles and works them into an imagined 'chatelaine' for the nine convict women who lived at Narryna as servants. Narryna is a colonial house which is now a museum in Hobart. It is part of the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery.

Inside the bottles are letters written to loved ones left at home in England, Ireland or Scotland. The letters tell of hardship, of fear and the occasional good tale.
