White lichen brooch

This brooch is made from sterling silver, resin, salt and stainless steel. It was exhibited as part of Radiant Pavilion in Melbourne, 2015.

Making three dimensional, sculptural work is important to me. I like to build up layers and to use unexpected materials in the depiction of natural phenomenon. I often come back to the same subject matter over and over, trying different techniques and materials to vary the way I can depict a particular theme. Lichens are one of these perennial sources of wonder.
